It's easy to get a Myanmar visa in Bangkok if you know where to go.
Myanmar is one of the few countries in the world where you can't get a visa on arrival in the country. You can’t check in at the airport if you don’t have a Myanmar visa in your passport.
Getting a Myanmar visa in Bangkok is straight forward. Get a taxi or Skytrain to Sathorn Nua Road in the centre of Bangkok. On the Skytrain you get off at the Surasak (Silom Line at S5) stop. Take Exit 3. Walk out through the elevated skywalk and then down the stairs onto Sathorn Nua Road. After exit turn right and walk along the same direction as the traffic on Surasak Road. You will pass 7-11 store and Bangkok Christian College. Walk along Sathorn Nua Road for about four hundred meter. The Embassy of Myanmar is just located just around the corner there, intersection of Sathorn Nua and Thanon Pan.
Once inside, fill in one of the application forms and then submit it at the window along with the appropriate fee. It's around 1000 Baht ($30 US) for a one entry visa - You need to submit the visa application between 9.00am to 12.00 am and 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm (except holidays and week ends). You can collect it next day later or pay a little more and get express service to collect it the same day, but make sure you drop it early in the morning if you want to be sure of this.

Myanmar currency is Kyat, which comprises 100 pyas. Notes: Kyat 500, Kyat 200, Kyat 100, Kyat 90, Kyat 50, Kyat 45, Kyat 20 ,Kyat 15, Kyat 10, Kyat 5, Kyat 1 Coins: Kyat 1,pya 50, pya 25, pya 10, pya 5, pya 1. Visitors are not to bring in or take out Kyats. Foreign Exchange It is compulsory, for Foreign Independent Travelers (FITs) to exchange US $ 300. But for their convenience the Central Bank of Myanmar has issued Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) in Dollar Units. (for details, see Foreign Exchange Certificates) Foreign currencies must be change only at authorized Money Changes at the Airport, Hotels, Banks and Myanmar Travels and Tours Offices. American Express, Master and Visa Credit Cards are accepted.
Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) are issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar for the convenience of tourists visiting Myanmar. Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) are issued in four dominations: The exchange rates of Foreign Exchange Certificates are as follows: Foreign Exchange Certificates can be exchanged at the Banks, the State owned hotels and Myanmar Travels & Tours Exchange Counters and others various authorized stores elsewhere. It is compulsory for Foreign Independent Traveler (FIT) holding Entry Visa Tourist (EVT) to change on arrival a minimum of US $ 300 or other equivalent acceptable currency with Foreign Exchange Certificates 300 units. This is the minimum amount to be sent by a tourist during his her stay in the country. Any unused Foreign Exchange Certificates out of this amount will not be reconverted. If a tourist has exchanged in excess of US $ 300, any unutilized balance of the Foreign Exchange Certificates will be reconverted at the time of departure on presentation of the "Foreign Exchange Certificates Voucher" at the Exchange Counters. Payments by Foreign Exchange Certificates shall be deemed to have been made in foreign exchange. These Foreign Exchange Certificates are acceptable by any person in the Union of Myanmar. Foreign Exchange Certificates can only be used within the Union of Myanmar.
