There are two kinds of Byarla: the fighting Byarla and peace Byarla. The figure of Byarla can be seen at the pagodas and the temples as a guard. Byarla is a mythical animal integrated with parts of the land and the water animals.

They are: the elephant’s trunk, the deer’s eyes, the rhinoceros’s horns, the parrot’s tongue, the chimera’s body contained with fish’s scales, the peacock’ tail, the horse’s ears, the lion’s mane and the tiger’s teeth. It has been siad that the animal of Byarla can give luck, unity, peace, safety and mystical skills for Arakanese.
