It was built by King Duttabaung and Queen Saw Myawady, the king having ruled for seventy years from 101 to 171 in Threkhittaya.
It is in Kyunlon U-shaung Ward Mandalay, about a furlong from the two lions at the west entrance of Maha Myat Muni Phaya. It has four pagodas of Ninsinnao Mudra, four caves and four entrances, with a height of 10 cubits (about 15 feet). Legend has it that King Duttabaung banished Queen Saw Myawady dut to his anger . When the queen got to the venue of the pagoda, she gave birth to a son. Hearing it, the king went out with full entourage. The king and the queen then enshrined her nine-stone ear studs and jewellery to build this pagoda to mark the site of the birth of their son. Reference 1.
