It lies at the centre of Pakokku, Magway division. Legend has it that Alaung Sithu while on tour came to Pakokku and chanced to entomb the son of court maiden Mai Seint Nyo. A boatman out there later repaired and built a pagoda also there. It was called Shwegu for its nearness to the cave.

Inside there is a Buddha Image that sits on a throne 12 feet 10 inches high, 5 feet 10 inches wide and 8 inches deep. It was made of five blocks of teak and decorated in nine stories (1) Buddha coming down from Tavatimasa to earth by three stairways (2) people asking Shin Moggalana the time of his arrival (3) Matali nat taking King Naymi to the nat world (4) Thadina king being taken to the nat world (5) Devadatta advising Azatathat to kill his father and become king (6) Azatathat dethroning King Bimbithara (7) the king surviving on food soaked in emeraled shawl of Queen Wedehi (8) the king’s feet being carved by jailors and (9) the same hearing of a son being born to his queen and the death of his father.
