Legend has I that Buddha placed three foopints in the mundane world for the devotees o revere-oneĀ in Sri Lanka and two in Yawnaka Taing of Myanmar, Zabudipa.
It was said that Buddha came to Thunapranta Yawnaka Taing (now Sagu township, Mgway Division) in Maha Sakarit 124 (601 BC) together with Shin Thariputara, Shin Moggalana, Shin Ananda, Shin Konna Dhana, Shin Maha Ponna and 500 monks. Buddha preached Dhamma at Ghanday on Monastery for deliverance of 84,000 disciples daily. After seven days of preaching the Dhamma, Buddha left for Zetawun Monastery in Thawutti. While near Namanta River (Mann Chaung) , Buddha left the left footprint on the platform at the head of the bank at the supplication of Nampada, King of Dragons, that lived in the river. (Mann Chaung was known as Ramada River, Namanta River and Nampada River.) That foot print was known as the lower footprint. As Buddha proceeded on the jouney, Buddha placed another footprint on the emerald platform at the supplication of Makula (a) Thisaa Banda of Emerald Platform. It was also known as the upper footpint. Makula Hill was also known as Myetsin Hill or Thissa Banda Hill. Reference 1. Ancient Pagodas in Myanmar Vol I , Jan 2003, by Myat Min Hlaing |
