It was built in 840 by Yadanapura Inn-wa King Pyinson Min Thihathura and Queen Ameitta Thiri Dewi. It lies in Minde Eikin ward west township, now Aungmyethazan of Mandalay. It is one of the oldest in Mandalay.

The king and queen repqired old pagodas after the barge got to Chaungpauk Village on Ayeyawady River, with all military parades. It was in ribute to one of them that the pagoda was built there.

It was built with five pyitsayar, the first three of brick, the fourth and the fifth being glass mosaic.

In the north are two footprints of Buddha and ancient Buddha images. It has a heigh of 49 cubits.
