It is situated in Dawel, Taninthayi Division. It is one of the nine Shins of the town.
In Sakarit 885, Prince Shin Zan ascended the thron in Aung Thagaya city on the west bank of Dawei River. That very year Shin Arahan came to the city and presented a gold relic of Buddha to the king. Min Shin Zan earth-filled the Wethawun Enchanted Lake on the 2nd waxing moon day of Pyotho 886 and laid the foundation for the pagoda on the 2nd waxing moon day of Pyatho 887. He had the relic enshrined in a pagoda. A grand festival was held to mark the completion of the pagoda on the full moon day of Thabaung 889. The name came from the fact that there was radiation from Buddha relic on the lake and the pagoda was built to mark the place. Reference 1.
