Mingala Zedi lies at about fou furlongs south of Bagan on Bangn-Chauk motor road. It was built by King Narathihapate in 1268.

It stand on a square plinth, with wide steps on four sides. Its architecture was most proportionate and of a high standard. Later-dated stupas were styled after it.

It has three terraces with tablets depicting the jatakas and Myanmar in-scriptions.
